Iris Torossian
Harpist | Actress
Hailing from a family of both musicians and music lovers, Iris Torossian discovers her calling at 15 years old, when she gets a first taste of the joy of playing within an orchestra and going on tour abroad. This experience is a true revelation for her, determining her future artistic choices.
Her brilliant studies at the Paris CNSMD bring her to represent the French school of harp in Japan and Canada, and increase her professional opportunities within prestigious ensembles, notably at the Maison de la Radio, the Paris Opera, and the Orchestre de Paris.
Always curious and on the lookout for new encounters and adventures, she is an on-the-go artist who thrives in varied projects and repertoires, in orchestras and chamber music as well as in studio recordings for films, or performing with dancers, magicians and actors with whom she strives to create true collaborations so as not to simply be an accompanist.
She also loves sharing the stage with traditional instrumentalists (duduk, koto, shô, indian percussions). Very attached to her Armenian roots, she adapts her harp repertoire to honor them, both on stage with other artists and in recordings.
It is with great enthusiasm that she has discovered the world of instrumental theatre, within which she enjoys playing with her harp as a character. That experience has made her wish to expand her range, and she has begun concurrently training as an actress, accumulating varied experiences on stage and in short films.
